Sassuolo 2-1 Torino

Sassuolo staged a second half comeback to beat Torino 2-1 at the Mapei Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Granata made a bright start and took the lead after twenty minutes when Tomas Rincon's low shot from outside the area was deflected into his own net by Manuel Locatelli.

Toro almost doubled their lead moments later, but Andrea Belotti's curling shot went wide of the far post. At the other end, Salvatore Sirigu made a great save to deny Francesco Caputo, although the former Empoli player probably should have scored.

On the stroke of half time, Simone Verdi had an excellent chance to score his first goal for the club - but he elected to try and volley rather than head Andrea Belotti's cross.

The home side came out at the start of the second half like a totally different team and quickly scored a deserved equaliser. Former Birmingham City winger Jeremie Boga picked up the ball, nut mugged Tomas Rincon, and then curled a sensational shot into the top corner.

Boga then turned provider fifteen minutes later as his low cross was swept home by Domenico Berardi to give Sassuolo the lead.

Substitute Vincenzo Millico came closest to scoring an equaliser for Toro, but the youngster saw his curling effort from outside the box hit the bar.

Forza Toro
