Torino fell to a fifth consecutive defeat as they lost 1-0 to AC Milan on Monday night to leave Moreno Longo still without a point as Toro coach.
Simone Edera was the surprise name in the Torino starting eleven, but his good play did allow Alex Berenguer an early chance, but the Spaniard ballooned his effort over the bar.
At the other end, Salvatore Sirigu once again displayed his value to the Granata by making a sensational save to deny Lucas Paqueta.
However, Toro were the architects of their own downfall as Berenguer lost the ball in his own half, and were duly punished when Samu Castillejo crossed for Ante Rebic to score.
In the second half, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Castillejo both missed excellent chances to extend their lead.
Torino struggled to create any chances of note and it was another disappointing performance for the Granata as they fell to another defeat.

AC Milan v Torino Preview
Cristian Ansaldi should return to the starting eleven following injury, whilst Bremer - who scored twice in the Coppa Italia tie three weeks ago - is expected to replace the suspended Armando Izzo.
The home side suffered a disappointing defeat in the Milan Derby a week ago, losing 4-2 despite being 2-0 up at half time.

Torino 1-3 Sampdoria
Moreno Longo's first game in charge of Torino ended in defeat as they lost 3-1 to Sampdoria despite taking the lead.
Armando Izzo and Sasa Lukic lukic returned to the side following suspension, whilst Lyanco was preferred to Bremer and Koffi Djidji in the back three.
The first half was an even affair, with Alex Berenguer having the best chance for the Granata, whilst Gaston Ramirez forced Salvatore Sirigu into making a save.
Early in the second half, Toro took the lead as Berenguer's pass found Simone Verdi, and the Summer signing finally scored his first goal for the club.
However, Sampdoria were level with twenty minutes remaining thanks to Gaston Ramirez's excellent free kick. Incredibly, five minutes later, the away side were ahead as Toro switched off from a throw in and the former Southampton man Ramirez was on hand to volley home.
The game was then over as a contest when Armando Izzo received his second red card in as many games for pulling back Fabio Quagliarella in the area. The former Toro man stepped up to take the penalty and powered it down the middle to secure all three points for Samp.

Torino v Sampdoria Preview
Armando Izzo and Sasa Lukic are both available again following suspension, whilst Cristian Ansaldi is included in the squad following injury.
Sampdoria have only won one of their last six matches, and are only four points clear of the relegation zone, following a 4-2 home defeat against Napoli in their last match.

It was another embarrassing night for Torino as they fell to a heavy defeat against Lecce on Sunday evening, a result that ultimately cost Walter Mazzarri his job.
After the disappointing defeats against Sassuolo and Atalanta, Toro needed to produce a performance in Puglia, but made the worst possible start.
With only ten minutes gone, Riccardo Saponara pulled a corner back for Alessandro Deiola to fire past Salvatore Sirigu in the Toro goal.
The home side then doubled that lead moments later as Antonin Barak was left unmarked to volley home.
It could have been 3-0 before half time, but Salvatore Sirigu made a great save to deny Gianluca Lapadula from close range.
However, things did not improve for the Granata after the break, as Sirigu was once again forced into making another save to deny Lapadula.
However, the Italian international had absolutely no chance with Lecce's third goal, as Filippo Falco scored the goal of the game from just outside the area that flew into the top corner.
Gianluca Lapadula finally got his goal as he scored from the penalty spot after Bremer fouled substitute Yevhen Shakhov in the area with twelve minutes remaining.
Andrea Belotti almost scored a late consolation goal, but the Toro captain was denied by Mauro Vigorito to seal a miserable night for the Granata.
The Toro supporters in attendance in Lecce made their views regarding coach Walter Mazzarri perfectly clear at the final whistle, and on Tuesday afternoon it was confirmed that Mazzarri would leave the club by mutual consent.
Mazzarri's replacement will be former Toro player and Primavera coach Moreno Longo who has achieved managerial success with both Pro Vercelli and Frosinone.

Lecce v Torino Preview
Toro performed well in the Coppa Italia defeat against AC Milan in midweek, but are still due a performance to make up for their embarrassing 7-0 home defeat against Atalanta a week ago.
Lecce have failed to win a home game all season, but have held both Juventus and Inter to draws at the Stadio del Mare, and also beat Toro in the reverse fixture back in September.
