Moreno Longo's first game in charge of Torino ended in defeat as they lost 3-1 to Sampdoria despite taking the lead.
Armando Izzo and Sasa Lukic lukic returned to the side following suspension, whilst Lyanco was preferred to Bremer and Koffi Djidji in the back three.
The first half was an even affair, with Alex Berenguer having the best chance for the Granata, whilst Gaston Ramirez forced Salvatore Sirigu into making a save.
Early in the second half, Toro took the lead as Berenguer's pass found Simone Verdi, and the Summer signing finally scored his first goal for the club.
However, Sampdoria were level with twenty minutes remaining thanks to Gaston Ramirez's excellent free kick. Incredibly, five minutes later, the away side were ahead as Toro switched off from a throw in and the former Southampton man Ramirez was on hand to volley home.
The game was then over as a contest when Armando Izzo received his second red card in as many games for pulling back Fabio Quagliarella in the area. The former Toro man stepped up to take the penalty and powered it down the middle to secure all three points for Samp.

Sampdoria 1-0 Torino
Torino's disappointing run of form continued as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against previously winless Sampdoria on Sunday evening.
Walter Mazzarri resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes from the disappointing defeat against Lecce, although Lyanco, Bremer and Simone Zaza did come into the eleven.
Sampdoria made a bright start, in contrast to the miserable weather in Genoa as both Fabio Depaoli and Manolo Gabbiadini had shots on goal inside the opening minute.
However, it took until the second half for the first real chance of the game, as ex Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini gave the home side the lead. However, there was some controversy surrounding the goal as both Ola Aina and Lyanco felt they had been fouled in the build up.
The Granata were then thankful for Salvatore Sirigu who made good saves to deny both Ronaldo Vieira and Albin Ekdal.
Toro were struggling to create chances against a resolute Sampdoria defence, but Simone Zaza did force Emil Audero into making a save.

Sampdoria v Torino Preview
Lyanco is expected to replace Koffi Djidji in defence, whilst Diego Laxalt impressed as substitute against Lecce so could replace Ola Aina at left wing back.
Sampdoria have made a terrible start to the season and are currently bottom of the table due to losing all three games and have conceded nine goals in the process.
Toro fans will be hoping for a repeat of the scoreline from this fixture last season, a 4-1 victory that was arguably the Granata's best performance of the last campaign.

Torino 2-1 Sampdoria
Torino produced one of their finest performances of the season as they beat fellow Europa League contenders Sampdoria 2-1 on Wednesday evening.
As expected, Nicolas Nkoulou returned from suspension, whilst Alex Berenguer was preferred to the out of form Simone Zaza in attack.
Toro made the brighter start and took a deserved lead ten minutes before half time when Lorenzo De Silvestri's floated cross was sensationally headed home at the far post by Andrea Belotti.
On the stroke of half time, Toro doubled their lead when Cristian Ansaldi's cross was only partially cleared by Joachim Anderson, and Andrea Belotti finished well with the outside of his right foot.
The Torino captain came close to sealing a perfect hat trick, but his left foot shot from just outside the area narrowly whistled past the post.
The away side were struggling to create many chances, but Salvatore Sirigu made a good save to deny Gaston Ramirez's half volley. Torino produced their best performance of the season as they thrashed Sampdoria 4-1 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday afternoon.
Walter Mazzarri named an unchanged team to the eleven who drew against Fiorentina last time out, and the Granata made a perfect start.
After only twelve minutes, Lorenzo De Silvestri delivered an inch perfect cross that was headed home by Andrea Belotti, who had previously not scored from open play since August.
Gianluca Caprari thought he had equalised for the home side, but his curling effort went narrowly wide of the post.
On the stroke of half time, Toro were awarded a penalty when Belotti was clearly upended in the area by Samp goalkeeper Emil Audero. The Torino captain stepped up to take the penalty himself, and scored to double the Granata's lead.
Torino added a third goal just ten minutes into the second half, as the excellent De Silvestri crossed for Ola Aina, and the Nigerian headed the ball back for Iago Falque to volley home.
Sampdoria were gifted a lifeline when Daniele Baselli fouled Dennis Praet in the area, and although Fabio Quagliarella's penalty was saved by Salvatore Sirigu, the former Toro striker kept calm to convert the rebound.

Walter Mazzarri kept his unbeaten record as Torino head coach in tact as ten man Toro earned an impressive point against Sampdoria.
Mazzarri changed formation for this game as the Granata lined up in a 4-3-1-2 formation, with Afriyie Acquah replacing Alex Berenguer in the starting eleven.
Toro had a great chances to take the lead in the opening moments, but Iago Falque's shot was blocked by Nicola Murru. The home side then took the lead after only eleven minutes thanks to Lucas Torreira's clever free kick. The Uruguayan midfielder drilled the ball into the Sampdoria players in the wall, who ducked, and unsighted Toro keeper Salvatore Sirigu.
Toro equalised less than fifteen minutes later thanks to Afriyie Aquah's deflected shot from outside the area.
In the second half, Tomas Rincon tested one-time Toro target Emiliano Viviano with a volley from just outside the area. With seventeen minutes remaining, Afriyie Acquah was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Torreira.
However, despite being down to ten men, Toro were continuing to create chances, and after a quickly taken free kick, substitute Andrea Belotti went through on goal but blazed over the bar.

Sampdoria v Torino Preview
Mazzarri enjoyed a successful two year spell in charge of Samp as he guided them to a 6th placed finish and a Coppa Italia final.

Adem Ljajic went close in the early stages but his effort went narrowly wide of the post. However, at the other end, Sampdoria took the lead with only twelve minutes gone as Czech striker Patrik Schick fired home from just outside the area.
Iago Falque and Lucas Boyè both missed good chances for the Granata as they went in at the break behind. However, with just over ten minutes remaining, substitute Juan Iturbe equalised for Toro after capitalising on a defensive error to score his first goal for the club.
In the dying seconds, top scorer Andrea Belotti had a great chance to win the game for Torino but he somehow headed over the bar from close range.

Andrea Belotti scored with the last kick of the game as Torino twice came from behind to earn a deserved point in Genoa.
Giampiero Ventura surprised many by leaving Bruno Peres and Ciro Immobile on the bench, with Davide Zappacosta and Josef Martinez being preferred.
Venezuelan striker Martinez almost made amends for his late miss against Hellas Verona as his ambitious 30 yard effort had to be turned round the post by Emiliano Viviano.
Afriyie Acquah had Toro's next opportunity as the Ghanaian won the ball on half way before driving forward and forcing a save from Viviano, although a pass to the unmarked Andrea Belotti was perhaps the better option.

The Granata doubled that lead six minutes later when the away side failed to deal with a corner and Andrea Belotti's cross was tapped home by Quagliarella for his second of the game.
Despite their slow start, Sampdoria looked threatening going forward and Eder had a great chance to reduce the arrears when he rounded Daniele Padelli, but the Italian international could not beat either Kamil Glik or Emiliano Moretti on the line.
Padelli made a great save to deny Eder once again, whilst Toro continued to create chances on the counter attack with substitute Maxi Lopez hitting the side netting.
This was a good victory for the Granata whose bright start was key to beating a decent Sampdoria side, and moved them up to 2nd in the Serie A table for a couple of days at least.

Torino won their third game in succession with a 5-1 victory over Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday afternoon.
Giampiero Ventura made just the two changes from the side who conquered Inter at the San Siro as Bruno Peres and Cesare Bovo came into the starting eleven.
Toro took the lead after only fifteen minutes, when Alexander Farnerud's corner caused havoc and allowed former Samp striker Fabio Quagliarella to volley home from close range. Toro were awarded a penalty fifteen minutes later, when MatÃas Silvestre hauled down Kamil Glik in the area.
The home side have had issues from the spot this season, but Fabio Quagliarella fired past Emiliano Viviano to double the Granata's lead.
Twenty minutes into the second half, the result was put beyond any doubt when Marco Benassi's cross found Quagliarella completed his hat trick with a fine strike into the bottom corner.
Substitute Amauri scored his first league goal for the club when he converted Bruno Peres' cross at the second attempt as Toro incredibly went 4-0 up. That lead lasted for only two minutes however, as Pedro Obiang scored arguably the goal of the game as he flicked in Lorenzo De Silvestri's low cross.
However, there was still time for Toro to score again as Bruno Peres added another solo effort to his highlight reel as the wing back beat a number of defenders before curling a shot into the corner of the net.
This was an impressive performance from Toro, arguably their best of the season, as they made it an eighth game without defeat. With Toro quietly rising up the table, an improvement on last season's 7th placed finish may not yet be out of the question.

Twenty minutes into the second half, the result was put beyond any doubt when Marco Benassi's cross found Quagliarella completed his hat trick with a fine strike into the bottom corner.
Substitute Amauri scored his first league goal for the club when he converted Bruno Peres' cross at the second attempt as Toro incredibly went 4-0 up. That lead lasted for only two minutes however, as Pedro Obiang scored arguably the goal of the game as he flicked in Lorenzo De Silvestri's low cross.
However, there was still time for Toro to score again as Bruno Peres added another solo effort to his highlight reel as the wing back beat a number of defenders before curling a shot into the corner of the net.
This was an impressive performance from Toro, arguably their best of the season, as they made it an eighth game without defeat. With Toro quietly rising up the table, an improvement on last season's 7th placed finish may not yet be out of the question.
